accessibility ACCESSIBILITY

The Young Eye Surgeons of Ontario (YES-O) represents the unique perspective of the newly graduated eye surgeon in Ontario.

A recent Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada report showed that 43.3% of newly graduated eye surgeons are unable to find a job placement.  This lack of employment in our new graduates is not because there isn't enough work to do.  With more senior citizens than ever before and a demographic "grey wave" about to overwhelm our ability to care for Canadians, we will need many more eye surgeons in the near future, and we need the help of our new graduates now more than ever.

New eye surgeons must have access to operating room time to maintain and develop their valuable skills.  Without this access, we risk losing a generation of eye surgeons when we need them the most.
