The Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (EPSO)’s Code of Ethics is the first of its kind in Canada, and strives to ensure that guidelines exist on issues unique to the practice of ophthalmology in Ontario.

The Code not only reinforces EPSO’s commitment to the ethical treatment of our patients, and the importance of transparency during consultations, but it also makes clear that any behaviour by ophthalmologists that may contradict the guidelines contained within the Code, is not endorsed by EPSO.

The Code is founded on the fundamental principles and values of medical ethics including compassion, respect for persons, justice, transparency and accountability.
